A Trip Down Memory Lane

This is my 100th post! I thought I had best do it on something that takes a trip down memory lane. Although this blog is no where near as big as others, I feel like it is far more successful than I had ever hoped or imagined. It has become something that I now feel very proud of. I have learnt so much from this blog and it has developed as I have a person. With that said I think it's time to look at some old posts I have done over in the past.

1 | A Lovely Day (Top Right)

2 | Throwback to Prom (Top Right)

3 | Welcome 2016 (Middle Left)

4 | The Balloon Fiesta (Middle Right)

5 | Revision Tips (Bottom Left)

6 | Meet Me! (Bottom Right)

Here's to another 100 posts more. I am hoping to improve my content, so if you have any suggestions of any posts you would like to see or any previous posts you would like to see more off, leave a comment below. I would also like to take this time to thank anyone (yes, you!) who has taken the time to come to my blog and have a look, it truly means a lot.

One Small Step for Others, One Giant Leap for Me

We have the rights and power to live a positive life. A life in which we want to get up to in the morning. A life that, although we may not know exactly where it is going, we are excited about the adventure that awaits. As morbid as it may sound, we only have a limited time on this planet we call earth, so we have to make a life worth living.

Recently I was stuck in a rut. I was trapped in a life that had a continuous cycle, that was taking me no where. I was juggling more things than people could imagine without taking time to breath. So I decided to make one big step, one that was scary but encouraged me to spend more time on the things that I consider to be important, such as: my studies, spending time with those I cherish and to look after myself. This decision that I found all so scary was to quit one of my jobs that I've had for the previous two years. This job was my security blanket, my steady income. It was something that I had been considering for a while, I'm always eager to become a better me and this job was holding me back from being just that.

If there is one thing you learn from this, I wish that to be that sometimes you just have to go for it. Stop being afraid! Either it will work or it won't. That is what life is all about. Life is about living. Cherish everyday like it's your last and never take anything for granted.

Wrong Crowd

As cliché as it may sound, I don't know how but I've managed to hang around with the wrong crowd more than once. That's the funny thing about crowds, you tend to go with the flow and before you know it, you're hanging out with a new group of "friends" but you don't know how you got there. It's a bit like it flashes before you eyes.

It's hard to know whether they are the wrong crowd for you, as it may not be that there is anything wrong with them. They could just not be the right crowd for you. Personally for me I know when a crowd isn't the "right" crowd for me as they either have no motivation to become a better person or they have a different way of living. There's nothing wrong with these qualities, it's just that I prefer to surround myself with positive people. I tend to be a fairly independent person, so I do tend to explore more often when it comes to crowds. I also find by mixing in a variety of different crowds you can really learn a lot about yourself and people from different backgrounds.

No matter how old you get you will always be faced with crowds, they tend to always be there no matter what, whether you're at work or with old friends, people will always tend to be in a crowd. So whether you're like me and you can easily get into the wrong crowd without realising or you prefer to make your own crowd, always try to reflect on where you are and whether you are in the right place for you. I am hoping to develop more of these reflecting skills in the near future. It's a great technique to try if you are not feeling like you are achieving the best you.

The Best Nap

Recently I have done some research into napping and whether it is actually good for you or not. A few months back I used to be huge on napping, but I never knew when was enough or when was the right time to nap. After looking into the topic I decided to tell you a little about the art of napping as it may be the thing that you are missing from your life.

There are five different types of naps depending on what you are looking to get out of it...

1 | The Power Nap (10-20 minutes)
This is the most well known nap when you just take a couple of minutes out of your day to help with things like getting your essay finished. This is the best type of nap to help get you straight back on your toes.

2 | The NASA Nap (26 minutes)
This may seem like a very specific number but although it is, it has actually be proven by scientists to help improve performance and alertness.

3 | The Bad Nap (30 minutes)
Surprisingly there is such thing as a bad nap. This nap causes sleep inertia which is basically a "sleep hangover" and if any of you have had a hangover before (I'm hoping none of my younger viewers) you really don't want a nap to give you one. So around the 30 minute mark is best to avoid if possible.

4 | The Slow-Wave Sleep Nap (60 minutes)
This is the best nap if you've had a sleepless night as it helps cognitive memory. So if you have a meeting or an important presentation be sure to give this a try as it may help you remember the important facts.

5 | The Full Sleep Cycle Nap (90 minutes)
This is the best before a big test or exam along with any other important event much like the slow wave sleep nap as it helps creativity, emotional and procedural memory.

So when is the best time to nap? I hear you ask. It is in fact between 1pm and 4pm as this is the time people have taken naps in the past. It is just after your "dinner time" which means it helps you to digest your food. Now days this is the time that we have found to be most tired. It is also helpful to be sat up a little bit as again this helps your food digest if you have previously eaten along with helping to avoid a deep sleep as it will make you even more tired in the long run.

The Beach

Last Friday I went to the beach with my Dad and little sister. Originally we didn't have anything planned, but it was a lovely day and we didn't want to loose the opportunity to visit the seaside. After a two and half hour drive we finally arrived. The weather was beautiful and unlike most days at the seaside in the UK it wasn't too cold for an ice-cream. Taking advantage of the beautiful weather I also decided to take some pictures of the picturesque views.

March Favourites

March has been a crazy month personally (find out more here), there has been lots that has happened which has also affected my favourites for this month as I haven't used as many things as I would normally use. However there has been a fair few that I keep going back to and also as it was my birthday I also received some lovely presents.

First of all is a lovely present that my Auntie and Uncle got me. Majority of people that know me and probably most of you reading this. I have a love for anchors for many reasons. I also love dainty necklaces so when my they got me this for my birthday I fell in love as it is very personal and also ever so beautiful. It has already become my little lucky charm.

Next up is this hand cream. I always use Vaseline hand creams as I find it is the one that works best for my skin. I find any other hand cream I use it feels like it doesn't soak in as well or doesn't work as well in the long run. However I ran out of the previous hand cream that I was using so I had to pick up another and that's when I came across this. This is the "advanced repair" range and so I'm told it doesn't contain as much chemicals and nasty stuff like that as the others do. It also contains small droplets of Vaseline which is great for dry and damaged skin.

This has been a love of mine for a while. I am  quite a big fan of Ted Baker products so when I could get my hands on this I fell in love. It's hard to describe the smell, if I had to say I would probably say it is mature with a touch of a floral scent. It also lasts all day which makes it great for a work or school fragrance.

I have always loved keeping a diary for as long as I can remember but I don't update it as regularly as I should. I tend to only write down updates of my life and my thoughts. The previous diary I had was quite negative so I enjoy this diary as I've decided to write only positive things in their or positive outlooks on negatives situations to help change my mindset.

Again this is my favourite book this month. I am a fairly slow reader so it takes quite a while to read things but I've read a bit more than last time and to tell you what it gets interesting...

This is another one of my loves this month, my JVC headphones. A few months back my old headphones had broke as I caught them on a door handle. Also a rabbit had bit it a few years back so they definetly had been worn. I love headphones personally for when I'm around the house as I feel it gives a better quality of sound. Me being someone who adores much took a trip as soon as I could to PC World with my Dad to have a look at some headphones they had on sale and after trying a few and my Dad having to make sure it was the best quality for money we had picked these. They aren't as glamourous as other bloggers headphones but they are comfortable and good quality and that's all that matters really.

This month I have been listening to a lot of different music by a lot of different people and genres. However as I am going to see them live on Thursday I have decided to pull out "Matt and Kim" they are a very lively duo and their music is so happy and makes you want to get up and dance which makes it even better. Basically I am very excited to go and see them live and can't wait.

Dear March...

Dear March...

*Takes a big breath* You have been a month unlike no other of my life. You have been the end to my worries for the past two years and have also been a very emotional month.

March you began with negative emotions and finished with more positive ones. You have now directed me to a place, where for the first time in my entire life, I can say I'm in a stable and much more safe place.

You have also been a month in which I became one year older into adulthood. It was not quite what I expected but a time of new beginnings nevertheless. Since my birthday I have already made lots of lifelong memories and am looking forward to the new ones I can make in the future year. From birthday meals with my family to clubbing with friends. March you have surprised me in many ways that words can't say.
